Creating from a Template

The fastest way to launch a ready-made diagnostic survey.

Documentation sections

If this is your first Ask → See → Discuss → Verify cycle, start with a template. This way you avoid building a structure from scratch and immediately get a survey with ready-made questions, categories, answer options, and analysis topics. These topics aren’t just for decoration: the platform later uses them to connect answers to growth points and recommendations.

Launch path

Open the Surveys section inside your organization and click Create survey. In the scenario selection window, choose Select survey template. If your organization has no surveys yet, the empty screen will have a separate Select template button — it leads to the same place.

A list of templates will open on the selection page. The card shows the name, description, number of categories, and questions. If this is enough, click Select. The platform will immediately create and launch the survey, and then open its card.

If you need to check the composition before launching, click Details. On the template page, look at the categories, questions, approximate duration, and list of topics. When you are sure the template fits, click Create and launch.

What happens after clicking

The platform copies the template structure into a new survey, creates the first open measurement, and activates a public link. A Public link block appears on the created survey's card: you can copy it and send it to employees, or open and download a QR code.

A template survey is created already launched. You don't need to click Launch survey separately: this button is for manual drafts or for the next measurement after the current one ends.

The created survey can be opened in the editor and fine-tuned: change wording, categories, or questions. Such edits affect only this survey, not the original template. If the link has already been sent to participants, be careful when changing the structure: different people may answer different versions of the questions.

By default, the audience of a template survey is the entire organization. If you need a different set of participants, first check the rules in the Survey audience article: the audience is fixed at creation and cannot be changed for an already launched survey.

Why a template is better

A template is worth choosing not only for speed. Questions and analysis topics are already aligned in it, so the first result is easier to read, and repeated measurements are easier to compare with each other. This is especially important for regular diagnostics: if you don't manually change the structure, the team answers the same proven baseline, and changes are visible between measurements.

A template has a boundary: it sets the starting structure but does not update a survey already created from it. If you want to take a fresh version of the template later, create a new survey from the current template. If you don't need a ready-made baseline, create a survey from scratch.
